EASTERN KING PRAWN
The Eastern King Prawn is one of Australia's most iconic and commercially important crustaceans. Found in warm coastal waters and estuaries, it spends much of its life buried in sand to avoid predators. At night, it becomes active, feeding and moving across the seafloor. Its streamlined body and powerful tail allow for quick escapes when threatened. In our aquarium, visitors can observe the natural behavior of this otherwise elusive species. The exhibit highlights both its ecological role and its importance to Australian fisheries.
