LEAFY SEA DRAGON
The Leafy Sea Dragon is one of Australia's most iconic and visually stunning marine animals. Endemic to southern Australian waters, it is famous for its leaf-like appendages that provide exceptional camouflage among kelp and seagrass. Despite their elaborate appearance, these appendages are not used for swimming but purely for disguise. Leafy Sea Dragons move slowly, relying on stealth rather than speed to avoid predators. Like seahorses, males carry and brood the eggs until they hatch. Our exhibit offers a rare opportunity to observe this living work of art up close.
