WOBBEGONG SHARK
The Wobbegong Shark is a distinctive bottom-dwelling shark commonly found on Australian reefs. Its flattened body and tasselled skin flaps provide excellent camouflage among coral and rock. Wobbegongs spend much of their time resting on the seafloor, blending seamlessly into their surroundings. They are ambush predators, striking quickly when prey comes within reach. Despite their fearsome appearance, they are generally calm unless provoked. Our exhibit allows visitors to observe this master of camouflage up close in a reef environment.
